How can I mail brochures in plastic?
I mail about 150 magazine/brochures per month from my business, but they don't look professional in white envelopes. How do I get them sealed in clear plastic and mailed that way?
Your best option is to have them shrink-wrapped. A handful of printers in every city will have a shrink-wrapper, or know one who does. If you want to avoid a mark-up on a mark-up, ask if their machine is on-site or if they'll be sending the work out. Buy direct if you can, but the price difference won't be massive so don't kill yourself looking for a source.
Give the contents to the printer already collated and slip-sheeted (usually a different colour of paper between each finished bundle), or in elastic bands, to avoid collating charges. The more you can get done on your own, the better, as far as price is concerned. Since you'll be affixing postage and address information to the outside of this, it's a good idea to put a blank or mostly-blank sheet on the front of the bundle to clear the space for easy-to-read labels.
They'll deliver the bundles to you complete in plastic, and then all you have to do is affix your mailing labels and postage. Some of the large printers are equipped to wrap and mail from the one location, others aren't; they'll let you know how much they can do for you. You can even pay to have a bindery worker affix the labels for you, but again that's extra.
Since this is a regular thing for you, it might be worth asking for pricing based on your annual total rather than individual monthly orders.
